Additional Information: | PICTURESQUE HOUSE WITH MANY GABLES AND PROJECTIONS Around 1890 the land was purchased by John B. Morneau. He also owned several other parcels in the area (both in Barron and Doyle Townships). Along with being a farmer, he also worked in the logging industry. His wife’s name was Exilia (nee D’Rousseau). They immigrated to the United States from Canada in/about 1887. They completed the build of a log cabin on this property in/around 1890. That cabin remains on the property today. The Victorian predates 1900 by about 5 years or so. One of their children was named Clarence who married a woman named Pearl. Pearl and Clarence had a son name Russell Morneau who grew up in the house and has provided much of the history of this property. Pearl passed away in April 2009; and Russell passed away in November 2020. |
