Bibliographic References: | Tax rolls and Sanborn fire insurance maps indicate that a building was at this location by no later than 1892; Historic images show a 1902 datestone on the front of the building, See Postcard image (WCHS 015,122; c1918) and historic photo (WCHS 015,259; 1954). The building was long home to a meat market. The first-floor storefront was remodeled in 1954, Permit for alteration, 1 November 1954, owner: Myron Schmidt, est. cost, $1,300, while the upper-level brick front is applied in 1958, Permit for alteration, 26 September 1958, owner: Myron Schmidt, est. cost, $6,000. Although owned by Schmidt, the building is occupied by the Rexall Drug Company by 1954. |
