Additional Information: | Excellent example of the style having the steeply pitched hip roof and segmental arched wall dormers typical of the style. All corners of the main building mass have cut stone quoins. There is a massive stucco sided chimney mass on the west facing facade of the house which has a corbelled cap terminating it. The large east facing ell is one and a half stories tall, has a steeply pitched hip roof whose slope angle is identical to that of the main block, and has double garage doors in the first floor. ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING SIGNIFICANCE Buildings designed in the true French Provincial style are very rare in Green Bay, there being only one on the west side of the city, and this house on the east side. While simple in design, this fine house has the steeply pitched hip roof, exaggerated chimney mass, and segmental arched style. In addition, the use of stuccl walls and sober apperaance in keeping with the hsitoric antecedents of this style, and also with the asperations of its owners. Home was completely restored in 2008. Original doors and fixtures remain; upstairs bathroom tile floor, toilet, sink, and bathtub remain intact. Wall between dining room and kitchen removed, along with the movement of lead glass built-in cabinets to the opposite wall in the dining room. Green Bay Intensive Survey Phases 2, 3 & 4 |
