Additional Information: | HISTORY: The Schroeder brothers (Peter, Joseph, John and Frank) built the Schroeder Block in 1899 with financial help from their father. They opened a department and grocery store in the basement and first floors, the second floor housed business offices and the third floor was home to fraternal halls. Peter and Frank operated the Two Rivers Saving Bank, also called the Red Bank, out of the store from 1902 to 1935. In 1997, a coffee house opened in the Schroeder Block and was named after the Red Bank. Tim and John Schroeder manage the store, making it the oldest continuously run family business in Two Rivers (2003). |
