| Additional Information: | This two and one-half story Queen Anne house features a hiproof with deck with many projecting gable-roofed dormers. A three-story square corner tower projects above the roofline. There is an abundance of woodwork on this house including decorative bargeboard, cross pieces, and applied stickwork all over the walls of the building. The front porch is equally detailed with applied stickwork, bargeboard, a spool-and-spindle balustrade, square and round columns, and a lattice work apron. This house is a fine example of the Queen Anne style. The irregularity of the style is seen in the projecting gables, dormers, and the fine square tower. The applied stickwork is a good representative of the exuberance and picturesqueness of the style. This house is one of the best examples of the style in the city. This was the home of Henry Boyle between 1893 and 1917. Henry Boyle was a businessman, who had interest in several industries in Fond du Lac and was an executive in the Commercial National Bank. This house is not historically significant at this time. Further research into Henry Boyle's life and significance may make the building significant in the future. |
