Additional Information: THE IMAGE OF THE GREEK TEMPLE WAS CONVEYED BY THE ONE STORY PORCH SURROUNDING THIS HOUSE. OTHER GREEK REVIVAL DETAILS INCLUDED IN THE DESIGN WERE THE WIDE ENTABLATURES, DENTICULATED WINDOW CAPS, AND PILASTERS. ATTIC WINDOWS WERE SET INTO THE FRIEZE. ARCHITECTURAL STATEMENT: THE AMOS HOUSE WAS ESSENTIAL TO THE ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY OF THE CITY OF OSHKOSH AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF, AND MOST INTACT EXAMPLE OF THIS TYPE OF GREEK REVIVAL STYLE, COMPLETE WITH A FULL PORCH. BEFORE IT WAS DEMOLOSHED, THE HOUSE WAS IN GOOD CONDITION. IT WAS REMOVED FROM THE NRHP LIST ON 8/17/89. HISTORICAL STATEMENT: FRANK AMOS WAS AN OSHKOSH LUMBER INDUSTRIALIST. HE WAS A PARTNER IN THE FIRM OF STANHILBER, AMOS AND COMPANY, WHICH IN 1894 BECAME HOLLISTER, AMOS AND COMPANY. (C). HE IS LISTED IN THE 1868 DIRECTORY AS A TEAMSTER. (B)
