Additional Information:THIS TWO-STORY ITALIANATE-STYLED RETAIL BUILDING WAS CONSTRUCTED IN 1901. IT FEATURES A RECTANGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION AND A FOUNDATION MADE OF CONCRETE, CONCRETE BLOCK AND STONE. A FLAT ROOF WITH A FALSE FRONT FURTHER DISTINGUISHES THE STRUCTURE. THE EXTERIOR WALL MATERIALS CONSIST OF BRICK AND WOOD, WHILE THE TRIM MATERIALS CONSIST OF METAL, BRICK AND CONCRETE. AN ADDITION WAS MADE TO THIS BUILDING AT AN UNSPECIFIED DATE. KNOWN HISTORICALLY AS THE WILLIAM F. SCHADE BUILDING, IT IS NOW HOME TO A TAVERN, A RESAURANT AND APARTMENTS. THE F IN THE PHOTO CODE AND IN THE MAP CODE STANDS FOR FCS. ANOTHER MAP CODE FOR 601 AND 603 W. WATER STREET IS GL 15/34. 603 W. WATER STREET IS CONSIDERED TO BE CONTRIBUTING TO THE PROPOSED HISTORIC DISTRICT.
