Fred H. Harrington Inaugurated as University of Wisconsin President
The Inaugural Banquet for the newly inaugurated President of the University of Wisconsin, Fred H. Harrington, was held at the Field House. Operating with scientific precision with instructions coming from a control tower in the balcony, a crew of about 100 waiters served 1500 dinners in ten minutes. The control tower was operated by Douglas Osterheld, associate director of the Memorial Union. Field telephones, walkie talkies, binoculars and flashing lights were used to signal the waiters. |
