Building Spawning Boxes
Two men in work clothes are bending over a box they are constructing from slab wood near Lake Menomin. There is snow on the ground and a park shelter in the background. The description on the reverse of the photographs states: "WPA workmen are using lumber obtained from dead or undesirable trees to construct bass spawning boxes on a WPA lake and stream improvement program. These boxes are filled with gravel and sunk in batteries on muddy lake bottoms to provide ideal spawning conditions for bass." |
