Atwood / Buck-Neckerman House
The Atwood / Buck-Neckerman House, at 210-214 Monona Avenue (now Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard), built in the late 1840s by General David Atwood and his partner Royal Buck as a double house and later lived in by George and Elizabeth Neckerman. Detail of the roof trusses. The beams were mortised out to fit over the top of column and then pinned with wooden pegs, one of which is still visible. These beams are sawn, perhaps by hand. |
