A note accompanying the photograph reads: "Photograph MG-1428) -- Automation is the key to increased production capacity of Atlas Concrete Products, Inc., Flint, Mich. Completely glass enclosed, air-conditioned dispatcher's office is the nerve center of Atlas' automated operation which has boosted concrete output from 350 yards to 1,800 yards a day. Here, a maze of controls under the guidance of skilled operators electronically meter varying amounts of cement, aggregates, and water to waiting mixing trucks, like International model RF-192 with six-yard body. To handle this increased production, Atlas has expanded its truck fleet to 50 units, most of which are International heavy-duty six-wheel models. The firm is the subject of a feature article in the September issue of 'International Trail' magazine, nationally-circulated publication of International Harvester Company." |
