Delavan Water Tower Park Historic District
Generally bounded by 101-137 Park Place and 104-130 E Walworth Avenue, Delavan, Walworth County
Dates of construction of contributing buildings: 1851-1961

This small historic district is located at the western end of the historic commercial core of downtown Delavan. Centered on a park and surrounded by commercial buildings, this district served as a service, civic and commercial core. A civic presence is represented, along with the park and water tower, by police and fire stations and park sculptures. Service businesses were historically located here. Early on there was a blacksmith shop and an agricultural implements store and warehouse while later, automobile garages, sales rooms and repair shops all serviced the emerging automobile era. Rounding out the district, commercial buildings had a variety of tenants over time including grocers, general stores, and later office space while upper floors often had residential apartments. This district continues to be a vital source of services and conveniences in the community, and offering new amenities such as a bike shop, hair salons and restaurants.
