Miramar Drive Residential Historic District
Generally bounded by the north and south side of Miramar Drive between Riverside Drive to the west and Nelson Court to the east
Allouez, Brown County, Wisconsin
Dates of Construction 1920-1967
The Miramar Drive Residential Historic District was platted in 1924. The majority of construction within the district took place during a period of rapid economic development and expansion in Allouez during the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. The Miramar District was primarily occupied by a thriving young upper middle-class, including Green Bay Packer players, lawyers, doctors, and business-owners, moving from the nearby City of Green Bay. The district is also differentiated by the presence of several architect designed houses, and its entry piers and individual historic garages associated with each house demarcating the commuter neighborhood.
Individually, the contributing homes include fine representative examples of several of the most popular styles applied to domestic architecture in Wisconsin from 1920 to 1967. The houses are well preserved and have much of the same appearance and use today as they would have when they were constructed, resulting in one of Allouez’s most architecturally intact historic residential areas.
