Additional Information: | The former Milwaukee House, located on the southwest corner of N. Barstow and Oak Streets, is a brick veneered two story structure which at one time was connected to frame structures to the south. The building is characterized by brickwork patterns at the roofline and segmental arch openings capped by brick window hoods. Aluminum siding covers a large portion of the rear of the building. In 1896 the Milwaukee House was operated by Charles Staehle (B). This portion of Eau Claire, once the northern extent of the city, contained several small hotels and rooming houses. |
