2008 Genealogy/Family History Book Award Winner Announced
Rick A. Hagen Wins Award for Miller Family History
Rick A. Hagen of Owings, Maryland, has won the 2008 Genealogy/Family History Book Award of Merit, co-sponsored by the Wisconsin Historical Society and the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society, for Descendants of Joseph and Catherine Miller of New Berlin, Wisconsin. A three-member panel of judges representing the Historical Society and the State Genealogical Society selected Hagen's book from a field of nine nominees. The panel called the family history a thoroughly researched and meticulously documented account of the family and posterity of the title couple, mid-19th century immigrants from Germany to Waukesha County, Wisconsin. It was engagingly written, copiously illustrated and carefully indexed.
The Wisconsin Historical Society Board of Curators' Awards Committee conferred the 2008 award at its meeting in Arbor Vitae on Saturday, June 21.
