2012 Genealogy/Family History Book Award Winner Announced
Helen Stoltz-Wood of Hudson Wins Award for 'From Denmark to Wisconsin: One Family – Two Ships, 1641-2011'
Helen Stoltz-Wood of Hudson was awarded the 2012 Genealogy/Family History Book Award for her book, "From Denmark to Wisconsin: One Family — Two Ships, 1641-2011."
About the Award
The award is given to the author of a genealogy book that best documents the history of a Wisconsin family and, in the opinion of the judges, made the most valuable contribution to public understanding of Wisconsin's past during the preceding calendar year.
About the Book
"From Denmark to Wisconsin" tells the saga of a Danish-American family from the 17th century in Denmark, through their 19th-century immigration to northwestern Wisconsin, to the present, primarily in Polk and St. Croix counties.
Extensively documented from Danish and American records, and well-illustrated, "From Denmark to Wisconsin" provides interesting context in its attempt to illustrate the "why's" as well as the "how's" of the family's history.
A panel of judges from the Wisconsin Historical Society recommended the author receive the award. The Wisconsin Historical Society Board of Curators' Awards Committee approved the 2012 Genealogy/Family History Book Award.
