Type of Employment: Old World Wisconsin Historic Site, Full-time 100% (40 hours/week).

Salary: Starting salary is $17.668 per hour ($36,890 annual salary) plus excellent benefits. This position is in pay schedule and range 02-13. A six month probationary period will be required.

Introduction

Old World Wisconsin is one of twelve museums and historic sites owned by the Wisconsin Historical Society. Old World Wisconsin is located near Eagle, Wisconsin approximately 35 miles from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Old World Wisconsin is an outdoor museum devoted to the history of rural life in the upper Midwest. It is located on 576 acres and contains 69 historic structures and 38 non-historic structures. There are approximately 9 permanent employees, 90 limited term employees (LTEs) and 100 volunteers. Old World Wisconsin has about 70,000 visitors per year. Job Duties

View a copy of the Financial Specialist 4 position description. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Old World Wisconsin, the employee in this position is responsible for independently developing, implementing and maintaining procedures, many of which are advanced and complex, for a wide variety of fiscal activities associated with the efficient and sustainable operation of Old World Wisconsin. This employee will monitor all Old World Wisconsin revenue and expenditures in compliance with State of Wisconsin statutes, rules, policies and procedures. He/she will oversee the collection of and accounting for all revenue collected through Old World Wisconsin operations including, but not limited to, ticket sales, membership purchases, food and retail sales, special event income, grants and gifts. This employee will train and coordinate the work of LTEs responsible for the efficient and secure financial transactions which occur as part of the Old World Wisconsin guest experience while adhering to the highest possible standards of customer service.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with other staff and the general public.
  2. Ability to use computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel).
  3. Effective written and oral communication skills.
  4. Accurate grammar, spelling, punctuation, and proof reading skills.
  5. Organizational skills and ability to plan ahead in order to handle multiple tasks and meet rigid deadlines without direct supervision.
  6. Experience with and understanding of professional accounting and fiscal practices and procedures.
  7. Ability to use computer spreadsheets, databases, WiSmart, FIRst, etc. to compile reports and organize and manage fiscal transactions.
  8. Ability to lead others.
  9. Knowledge of, and ability to implement, modern office and customer service practices and procedures including software to improve accounts payable and receivable functions and financial transactions.
  10. Ability to exercise judgment in the application of Historical Society fiscal policies to ensure payments are made properly and charged against correct budgets.
  11. Understanding of best practices in monetary transactions as a part of guest/customer service.
  12. Ability to travel independently within Wisconsin.
  13. Able to legally operate a motor vehicle from the Wisconsin Department of Administration State Fleet in the State of Wisconsin. Must have a valid driver's license upon appointment.
