Introduction

Wade House Historic Site in Greenbush, Wisconsin is currently seeking friendly, outgoing individuals for part-time visitor service and food service positions during the 2013 visitor season (May through October). A visitor services employee's responsibilities at the site include: selling admission tickets to visitors, selling, arranging and cleaning merchandise in the museum store, being knowledgeable about Greenbush, Wade House and the surrounding area, assisting with concession stands and with special events as needed. A food service employee's responsibilities will include preparing food, safe food handling, money handling, keeping the café clean and attractive.

Job Duties

Successful candidates will have excellent oral communication skills, a positive, friendly attitude, cash register experience, the ability to work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather, and the ability to work and communicate well with diverse groups of people, including adults, children, seniors, fellow staff members and site volunteers.

Special Notes

  1. A criminal background check will be conducted prior to offer of employment to determine if the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job.
  2. The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 requires employers to hire only individuals who are eligible to work in the United States. Upon reporting for work, an individual will be expected to present proper evidence establishing employability.
  3. State residency required.

Time Commitment

A Historic Interpreter's workday generally runs from 10:00 am until approximately 5:00 pm (occasionally earlier or later if a school tour or special event is taking place) and Interpreters generally work between 2-5 days per week. Since the site is open to the public 7 days per week, Interpreters are required to work approximately 3 or 4 weekend days per month.
