Introduction
The Wisconsin Historical Society is seeking a Web Development Specialist to develop, maintain, and manage the Society websites.
This position works out of the Wisconsin Historical Society located on the exciting University of Wisconsin Madison campus at 816 State Street.
Job Duties
Under the supervision of the IT Director, this position provides department-wide project management services for the development of primarily web-based systems in a highly complex, highly integrated environment across multiple platforms.
Under the supervision of the IT Director, this position is responsible for designing and developing user interfaces for the Society's internal and public websites and ensuring they conform to established web production standards. This includes development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of applications using advanced web-based technologies.
Some of the duties to be performed by the person in this position are: creating wireframes and interface design mockups based on documented requirements; overseeing the production of web pages through all phases, including design, testing, validating, implementing and maintenance; modifying and creating new web graphics; write documentation and provide training to Society staff on the use of the Society’s content management system and additional production standards.
In the course of this work, the person in this position will work with Society staff, as well as project managers, analysts, designers, programmers, system architects, other technical staff, and data stewards in designing, coding, testing, documenting, and implementing these business applications.
