INFORMATION DESK VOLUNTEER - Museum

Location(s): Wisconsin Historical Museum, Capitol Square, Madison

Position: Information Desk Volunteer

Supervisor: John Lemke, Retail, Publicity, and Visitor Services Manager

Time Commitment : Information Desk Volunteers must serve a minimum of two three-hour shifts per month for at least six months.

Special Qualifications: A background check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment.

Job Duties:

Information Desk Volunteers staff the lobby Information Desk, where they greet Museum visitors and record attendance. They orient visitors to the Museum’s exhibits and answer questions about the Museum and the Wisconsin Historical Society.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Information Desk volunteers should have the desire and ability to work well with the public and to use reference materials provided at the desk. Volunteers must be able to communicate effectively and must be punctual, dependable, pleasant, helpful, and resourceful.

Time Commitment:

Information Desk Volunteers must serve a minimum of two-three-hour shifts per month for at least six months.

Training:

Training includes a building tour and a one-hour orientation to the Information Desk.
