This position is in the Information Technology Office of the Wisconsin Historical Society.
Job Duties:
The Help Desk support position provides Tier 1 support for the Society's twelve locations in Wisconsin by phone, email, and site visits; Monitors and maintains the Help Desk ticketing application; Creates and updates a knowledgebase of tips, instructions, how-tos, etc.; assists with the installation of desktop computers; provides hardware and software support, maintains computer inventory and disposal.
Shifts:
Weekdays: 8:00am-12:00pm OR 1:00pm-5:00pm
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Windows XP Pro, MS Office 2003, and Outlook 2003 in an Exchange environment
- Experience providing tier 2 help desk support and computer repair
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to exhibit professionalism and sound judgment
Job responsibilities include:
Help Desk (phone support)
- Review problems with users over the telephone to collect information needed to identify the problem.
- Assess error messages, system performance and trends to identify potential sources of the trouble.
- Correct the problem as required.
- Escalate problems to appropriate IT support staff.
- Create and maintain help desk documentation, including call logs, FAQs, and help files.
- Maintain the I.T. work area by keeping it clean and organized
Account Management
- Create, update, and delete LAN accounts
- Create, update, and delete State Enterprise user accounts
Provide on-site support for Historical Society locations
- Provide general PC, printer and software support
- Patch and document PCs and LAN configuration
- Provide general application support, when time permits
Assist with installation and maintenance of computers, printers and software
- Support, install and configure software and operating systems, such as Windows XP, MS Office 2003, and Outlook 2003.
- Troubleshoot and correct LAN connectivity problems.
Assist with other I.T. projects as needed
- Provide backup for Network Administrator
- Provide backup for Windows server administration and Cisco switch administration
