The
American Landscape
andscapes in nineteenth-century
farm equipment posters tell us more about the artistic
conventions of the time than the actual appearance of
farms. Most views featured scenic hills and rivers
instead of the flat, Midwestern prairies that
characterized American agriculture by the 1880s.
