"Beer: From Ancient Origins to New Traditions," is the first in a free series of events exploring beer from ancient origins in Mesopotamia to Wisconsin's microbreweries of today. Space is limited; registration is required.
Join Wisconsin Historical Society Press authors Jim Draeger and Mark Speltz as they discuss their new book, which celebrates Wisconsin's taverns and the breweries that fueled them,
'Bottoms Up: A Toast to Wisconsin's Historic Bars & Breweries.' Taverns and beer are as Wisconsin as cheese curds or the Green Bay Packers, and our state's love affair with the fermented brew has a long and interesting history. Draeger and Speltz will share the story of how Wisconsin came to dominate brewing — and the place that bars and beer hold in our social and cultural history. Enjoy a traditional Wisconsin fish fry provided by Crandall's Catering.
