History Sandwiched In: Teju the Storyteller

Teju (Tejumola Ologboni) of Milwaukee is a master storyteller and folklorist of international renown. He draws listeners into stories with gestures and movements, and sometimes with music made on traditional African instruments. Serious or humorous, political or festive, Teju's stories reflect on longstanding and contemporary cultural perspectives to give listeners a greater understanding of the profound influence of African heritage on our traditions and identities. Come listen to this culture keeper and be enlightened and inspired.

The museum will present this program in conjunction with the Dane County Regional Airport exhibition, "Wisconsin Folks: Masters of Tradition," organized by the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Tandem Press and the Wisconsin Arts Board. The exhibit, which runs through March 2013, highlights the Arts Board's Folk and Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program.
