Marks of His Profession: Tattoos in the Fur Trade
In the fur trade, tattoos were commonly used as body art and language by both the American Indians and the French-Canadian voyageurs. This talk by Isaac Walters explores tattoos and their meanings in the fur trade. Walters spent several seasons as interpretive ranger at the reconstructed fur trading post at Grand Portage National Monument.
