The Spirit of Christmas Past
Keep your promise to enjoy the holiday season and, at the same time, start a new tradition. Stroll the 1870s Crossroads Village and discover the origins of many of our favorite holiday customs. Walk house to house, shop to shop, as you join in the festivities and see how different cultures contributed to the rituals we enjoy today.
Many of the village buildings will be busy with holiday preparations: a Christmas dinner will be in the making at the Sisel House; the table will be set for a festive evening party in the Sanford House; a Christmas tree will take center stage in the Benson House; they'll be singing Christmas carols in St. Peter's Church; and the Thomas General Store will be stocked with special items for the holidays.

Location Description: Old World Wisconsin documents the settlement of 19th- and early 20th-century Wisconsin. It comprises an 1870s crossroads village and 10 ethnic farmsteads located on 576 acres of wooded hills in the Southern Unit of Kettle Moraine State Forest.
