Local History and Museums Workshop: Wisconsin Archaeology and Your Collections
The Wisconsin Historical Society and the Wisconsin Federation of Museums are proud co-sponsors of this workshop, one in a series of spring workshops for local history organizations and museums.
This workshop presents an overview of Wisconsin archaeology in which you'll learn to identify and care for artifacts in your collections. Attendees are invited to bring examples from their collections and to work with professional archaeologists to help identify collections. Wisconsin preservation programs and Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act issues will also be covered. Workshop limited to 35 participants.Instructors:

: The historic Villa Louis mansion is the centerpiece of a grand Victorian estate built by the family of Hercules Dousman, a frontier entrepreneur who amassed a fortune in the fur trade and other frontier investments. The mansion has just undergone a top-to-bottom documentary restoration that has returned the Dousman home to the splendor of its 1890s heyday, using British Arts and Crafts interior designs inspired by famed designer William Morris.
