Local History and Museums Workshop: Exhibits on a 10 Spot — Thinking Outside the Box
The Wisconsin Historical Society and the Wisconsin Federation of Museums are proud co-sponsors of this workshop, one in a series of spring workshops for local history organizations and museums.
Even on a small budget, it's possible to produce quality exhibits. Learn how to feature interesting subject material and incorporate hands-on learning opportunities while using quality preservation techniques. We'll show you exhibit development techniques that promote cost-efficient design. While you tour our workshop we'll share key resources that allow you to create inexpensive mounts, labels, images and other exhibit components. We'll discuss technology, hardware, software and how to use your imagination to "think outside the box." We'll provide local sources for preservation-quality materials and explain how you can use purchase planning to get the best deals on archival supplies. Workshop allows you to apply concepts in hands-on exercises.
Instructors: Tamara Lange, collections coordinator, and Cassandra Karl, registrar, Sheboygan County Historical Museum
