Book Discussion in Wascott with 'Monster Fire at Minong' Author Bill Matthias
On the 33rd anniversary of one of the largest wildfires in Wisconsin history, Bill Matthias, author of
"Monster Fire at Minong: Wisconsin's Five Mile Tower Fire of 1977," will recall the fire that charred 13,000 acres of land and devoured 63 buildings. The fire raged out of control for 17 hours through the communities of Minong, Wascott, Solon Springs, Spooner and others. Come learn about the fire and the brave citizens who fought it by hearing Bill Matthias's firsthand experience.
The book also discusses important changes that have been made to firefighting laws and procedures.
Bring your own stories or just sit back and enjoy some coffee and baked goods provided by the Wascott Community Club, but don't miss this opportunity to hear about 'Monster Fire!'
