Taste Traditions of Wisconsin: Barns with Jerry Apps
Join us for an evening with Wisconsin Historical Society Press author, Jerry Apps, as he examines the role barns have played on Wisconsin's farms and in the state's pastoral culture. May is Historic Preservation and Archaeology Month, an ideal time to examine the distinctive architecture that perfectly expresses the pride and practicality of Wisconsin farm families, especially at a moment in history when barns as we know and remember them are in danger of fading into the past. See why these special buildings are being saved, repurposed and honored for their faithful and sturdy service.
Jerry Apps is an award-winning author of rural history and chronicler of country life. His books include
Barns of Wisconsin and
Horse-Drawn Days: A Century of Farming with Horses. A dinner of products from local farms will complement this evocative glimpse into Wisconsin's bucolic past, present and hopeful future.
Taste Traditions of Wisconsin is a monthly series that highlights Wisconsin's rich culinary heritage through food, history and sharing stories.
