Taste Traditions of Wisconsin: The Iron Brigade in the Gettysburg Campaign
Join us for a meal of time-honored foods found on tables in the northern United States. After dinner Lance Herdegen, former director of the Institute for Civil War Studies at Carroll University, will share the extraordinary tale of the Iron Brigade. He will breathe new life into the portrait of these brave soldiers and their loved ones at home, with newly uncovered first-person source material. You will appreciate Herdegen's background as a UPI reporter and award-winning author when he keeps you spellbound with a tale that goes beyond battleground statistics. Herdegen will illustrate that the soldier's work didn't end at the conclusion of the war but continued, as they reached out to their previous foes to rebuild a nation.
Taste Traditions of Wisconsin is a monthly series that highlights Wisconsin's rich culinary heritage through food, history and sharing stories.
