Rituals of Spring Weekends: Sheep Shearing

With spring come annual rituals — cleaning house, planting gardens, preparing the farmsteads for the growing season, or taking time to honor those who've come before us. Join us as we kick off our 2012 season with these special spring weekends — including plenty of opportunities to lend a hand. On this weekend, see our historic breeds of sheep — Merinos and Cotswolds — shorn by hand. Visitors can feel the fleece of these two breeds to understand the difference, then see them processed into yarn. Newborn lambs will be nearby, awaiting their mothers' spring haircuts.
