'Green Bay Packers: Trials, Triumphs, and Tradition' Book Talk in Fitchburg
"Green Bay Packers: Trials, Triumphs, and Tradition" tells the improbable story of professional football's most iconic team, along the way providing a unique window into the rise of modern professional sports. As the NFL has evolved into a financial juggernaut, the Green Bay Packers stand alone as the only professional sports franchise owned by fans, thus providing the only public record of how a sports team is run. William Povletich delves deep into that one-of-a-kind financial record to explain how one small American city hosts a profitable team in a league dominated by large metropolitan franchises.
Author Bill Povletich will be in Fitchburg to talk about
'Green Bay Packers.' A book signing will follow.
Wisconsin native William Povletich is the author of "Milwaukee Braves: Heroes and Heartbreak," "Some Like It Cold: A Sheboygan Surfin' Safari" and "Green Bay Packers: Legends in Green and Gold" as well as many magazine articles on sports and entertainment. An Emmy Award–nominated and Peabody Award–winning documentary filmmaker, he recently produced "Police Women of Broward County" for TLC, "Beach Patrol" for truTV and "A Braves New World" for PBS through Milwaukee Public Television.
