'Joyce Westerman: Baseball Hero' Book Event in Sheboygan Falls
"Joyce Westerman: Baseball Hero" tells the story of a young girl who grew up on a farm in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, and loved to play baseball. During World War II, P.K. Wrigley formed the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Only a few were good enough to make the cut, and Joyce was one of them. For eight years, she traveled around the US playing ball, even winning the league championship in her last season.
Author Bob Kann will be speaking at Sheboygan Falls Memorial Library about
'Joyce Westerman: Baseball Hero.' Coffee and doughnuts will be provided, and a book signing will follow.
Kann, author of several Badger Biographies, is a well-known storyteller, juggler and magician who performs at schools, libraries and festivals throughout the country.
