Book Release Party in La Crosse for 'Bottoms Up: A Toast to Wisconsin's Bars and Breweries'
"Bottoms Up: A Toast to Wisconsin's Historic Bars and Breweries" celebrates Wisconsin's taverns and the breweries that fueled them. Beginning with inns and saloons, the new book
explores the rise of taverns and breweries, the effects of temperance and Prohibition, and attitudes about gender, ethnicity and morality. The book features 70 taverns and breweries from around the state.
Join the Wisconsin Historical Society and Wisconsin Public Television for this special celebration. Meet authors Jim Draeger and Mark Speltz, and receive your signed copy of the new book, published by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press. Plus view a special sneak preview of Wisconsin Public Television's Bottom's Up companion documentary. Space is limited, and advance ticketing is required. To reserve tickets, contact the membership office at 888-748-7479 or via email
Jim Draeger is an architectural historian and deputy state historic preservation officer at the Wisconsin Historical Society with more than 25 years of historic preservation experience.
