Nash Metropolitan Show

America's first subcompact automobile, the Nash Metropolitan, were produced from 1954 to 1962. These diminutive cars have classic auto lines and detailing of a 1950s automobile, but in a Lilliputian-sized package. While most U.S. automobile makers were following a bigger-is-better philosophy, Nash Motor Company executives were offering American buyers an economical transportation alternative.

The Metropolitan was designed in the U.S. as the second car in a two-car family; a personal car for mom to take the kids to school or for shopping and that dad could drive to the railroad station to catch his ride to work. This commuter/shopping car resembled the big Nash, but with a tiny wheelbase shorter than the Volkswagen Beetle. See several of these highly collectible and rare cars on display at Circus World.
