Wisconsin Seen: Homegrown Interpretations from the Federal Arts Projects and Social Policy
The Chazen Museum of Art will host a discussion of federal arts projects in the 1930s, including the development of Greendale, a planned community built near Milwaukee 75 years ago and just listed as a National Historic Landmark. Panelists will include Arnold Alanen, co-author of the Wisconsin Historical Society Press' book
'Main Street Ready Made: The New Deal Community of Greendale, Wis." The event is organized by the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Chazen Museum of Art, which is hosting a "1934: A New Deal for Artists" exhibit in its Pleasant T. Rowland Galleries.
