Old World Wedding
Be our guest at an 1840s Norwegian immigrant wedding celebration. Participate in the ceremony and enjoy refreshments at the old-fashioned reception. From 10 to 11 am and again from 1 to 2 pm, talk with the bride and her neighbors about the nuptials at the Kvaale House in the Norwegian area, or visit with the groom and his brother at the nearby Fossebrekke House. Wedding ceremonies will begin at 11 am and 2 pm.
After the 2 pm ceremony visitors are invited to join in a feast celebration outside the Kvaale House, where they can sample Norwegian rommegrot and cucumber salad. A fiddler will play, and staff will be on hand to teach visitors who would like to joint in the merriment how to dance.
