Classic Book & Movie Club: The Trial
Enjoy a free screening of Orson Welles' 1963 movie adaptation of Franz Kafka's 1925 book, The Trial. Starring Orson Welles and Anthony Perkins, it tells the surreal tale of a man who awakens to find himself accused of a capital crime but who cannot learn the crime he's charged with before being tried and punished for it. Marc Silberman, professor of German at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will introduce the film and lead a post-screening discussion. The film is the third offering in a second year of free film screenings called the Classic Book and Movie Club, co-sponsored by The Capital Times. Films shown are from the collections of the Wisconsin Center for Film and Theater Research.
