Downtown Madison in the 1930s and '40s
In this slide show using photos taken by Angus McVicar and a few postcards from the period, you will tour the Capitol Square and other downtown Madison streets as Ann Waidelich discusses the history of the businesses that once thrived in the heart of the capital city. Ann is a retired Madison public librarian, past president of Historic Madison, Inc., and current volunteer with the Wisconsin Historical Society photo archives. She is also a curator and board memeber for the Historic Blooming Grove Historical Society.
