Mark your calendar now for great movie entertainment from the classic books of Jane Austen. Each film will be presented at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Wisconsin Historical Society, 816 State Street. Admission to all the screenings is FREE to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Sunday, April 13, 2008 — Pride & Prejudice (2005)
This film adaptation of the 1813 Jane Austen novel stars Keira Knightley, Donald Sutherland and Brenda Blethyn. This classic tale of love and misunderstanding unfolds in class-conscious England near the close of the 18th century.
Sunday, September 14, 2008 — Sense & Sensibility (1995)
This film adaptation of Jane Austen's 1811 novel stars James Fleet, Tom Wilkinson, Harriet Walter, Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet, Emma Thompson and Hugh Grant. At the center of this tale are two sisters searching for love and marriage in early 19th-century England.
Sunday, January 18, 2009 — Persuasion (1995)
This film adaptation of Jane Austen's 1817 novel stars Amanda Root, Ciarán Hinds, Susan Fleetwood, Corin Redgrave, Fiona Shaw. This is the story of a love that survives eight years of dormancy and the frustrating obstacles of class prejudice in 19th-century England.
