Editor's Note:
This was their second day laid up at the Shot Tower which, as everyone who has been in the Wisconsin river bottoms in late June knows, must have been swarming with mosquitoes. Photos of the Shot Tower are here, but none presumably capture the boredom and discomfort that led Marsh to choose "hope" and "wounded spirits" for his sermons on the previous day.
Very rainy most of the day and unable to proceed on our journey.
