Term: ginseng
Definition: an herb used in teas, foods, and as an herbal remedy. Wisconsin is the leading producer of ginseng in the U.S. Used for centuries by the Chinese, it is now popular around the world. The Fromm brothers of Hamburg, Wisconsin, were the first to successfully cultivate ginseng in 1904. Marathon County produces 1.3-1.5 million pounds of ginseng annually, most of which is shipped to Hong Kong.
