Term: Garth, Schuyler Edward 1898 - 1947
Definition: Methodist clergyman, bishop, b. Saffordville, Kans. He was ordained a Methodist minister in 1920, graduated from Baker Univ. (B.A., 1922) and Garrett Biblical Institute (B.D., 1924). He spent most of his life as a Methodist minister in Kansas, Illinois, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. In 1944 he was consecrated a Methodist bishop and was the first full-time bishop assigned to the Wisconsin area. He lived in Madison (1944-1947), but died in China while on a journey assessing missionary opportunity in the Far East.
