Definition: b. Middletown, Conn., married John Kinzie in 1830, and moved to Fort Winnebago the same year. After moving to Chicago, she was the author of several books based on her experiences in Wisconsin: Waubun, the Early Day in the Northwest related Mr. and Mrs. Kinzie's experiences at Fort Winnebago; and two novels, Mark Logan the Bourgeois, and Walter Ogilby, both based on her memories of life at Fort Winnebago.
