Term: Milwaukee & Horicon Railroad
Definition: the third rail line in Wisconsin, it was chartered in 1852, connected Horicon and Waupun by 1855, Waupun to Ripon in 1856 and Ripon to Berlin in 1857. The company was purchased in 1863 by the Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway (a predecessor of the Milwaukee Road), which had made the connection to La Crosse as the La Crosse & Milwaukee Railroad in 1858.
