Term: Oneida Indians

Definition:

one of Five Nations of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois); the Oneida emigrated to Wisconsin from their ancestral home in New York between 1824 and 1838, settling on Menominee land along the Fox River near Green Bay; in 1838 they numbered ca. 650, today ca. 13,500; for more information visit the tribal Web site at http://www.oneidanation.org/.
