Term: Prairie du Chien, Battle of (1814)
Definition: On July 17, 1814, 150 British troops with 400 Indian allies laid seige to 60 American soldiers; three days later, the U.S. force surrendered and evacuated, and the British held the fort until the end of the war six months later.
