Definition: an enormous, elephant-like mammal hunted by Wisconsin Paleo-Indians 12,000 to 10,000 years ago; the remains of a large mastodon found by two children near Boaz, Wisconsin, in 1897 are now at the Geology Museum of the Univ. of Wisconsin in Madison.
