Term: theaters in Wisconsin
Definition:
the first theater in Wisconsin was built in Milwaukee in 1842, and theaters soon became a prominent part of life in most communities. For most of their history, theaters were spare, utilitarian, working locations. Early theater was often performed in local social and meeting halls, but as they became more profitable, a movement grew to professionalize theater productions, performances, and the halls themselves.
