From Increase Lapham's 1844 Geographical and Topographical Description of Wisconsin:
"PESHTEGO. This is the largest tributary of Green Bay between the Menomonee and the Neenah [Fox]. It is represented as entering an estuary, or arm of the bay, eight miles in length, and about six miles from the mouth of the Menomonee. But little is known of the character or extent of this stream."
